Glenlivet Distillery, Speyside
The remote Livet Valley was an ideal spot for illicit whisky distillation. This is where the founder of Glenlivet, George Smith, learned his trade. In 1822 during a state visit, King George IV asked to try a drop of the illegal yet infamous Glenlivet whisky.
The distillery draws water from Josie's Well and other springs a short distance from the distillery.
